Innovation Made in NRW

This project is for young specialist and managers, decision makers, ecosystem managers from technology and innovation-oriented companies, institutions as well as start-ups and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) who are based in Ghana and are professionally involved in shaping sustainable and innovation-oriented economic development.

10 participants from Ghana will have the opportunity to have a 2-month immersion programme in NRW, funded by the  Ministry of Economic Affairs, Industry, Climate Protection and Energy of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia, and organised by GIZ in NRW with 3 months follow up programmes after their stay in Germany.

Overview

The Innovation Made in NRW programme offers specialist and managers, decision makers, ecosystem managers, founders, and incubators from Ghana the opportunity to go to NRW to learn from businesses in their field of interest, with the aim to foster partnerships and business relationships between Ghana and NRW

Objectives

  • Encourage NRW and Ghana to collaborate on joint projects and sustainable new business opportunities, which will promote sustainable economic development.
  • Establish fresh, creative business ties between Ghana and NRW.
  • Give attendees a chance to learn more about the vibrant and innovative economic landscape in NRW

Target

  • Institutions and business leaders who are in technology and sustainable innovation-oriented companies.

Expected outcome

  • Participants gain practical skills and knowledge in their chosen field
  • Participants from Ghana acquire knowledge about the innovation processes and technology advancements in NRW

  • Promotion of sustainable economic growth in Ghana.
  • The creation of business relationships and the expansion of prospects for project cooperation

The application deadline for this program in NRW is Monday 20th May 2024. Your stay in NRW Germany will take place in October and November 2024.

Required Application Materials

Description of your enterprise/project/institution (maximum 1000 characters) and a pitch deck (or a short presentation explaining why you / your organization are a good fit for the program). 

Curriculum Vitae (CV) of representing participants. 

Eligibility

  • You should be a young specialist and managers, decision maker, ecosystem manager from technology and innovation-oriented companies or startup/SME in the following fields, (Construction, logistics, E-mobility, Smart Cities, Smart Energy & Environmental Technologies, Industry 4.0 and Artificial Intelligence, Health & Medicine).
  • You have a strong interest in Germany and intercultural exchange.
  • Your business is based in and operates in Ghana.
  • You are fluent in English.
  • You are highly motivated.
  • Valid passport (min. 6 months validity).
  • Your organization’s activities are in line with sustainability, innovation, and economic development.

Programme benefits

  • Stay in Germany for two months and get exposed to the business climate which will be organized and implemented by GIZ in NRW.
  • Stipend of €750 per month to cover living expenses during your stay in Germany. 
  • Additional subsidy to help with accommodation costs in Germany (up to €750). 
  • Coverage of travel costs to and from Germany. 
  • Support with obtaining a visa. 
  • Pre-departure and follow-up online support.
